BS5726 is the old (repeat
old - i.e. no longer the standard you should be working to when considering
new equipment) British standard for microbiological
safety cabinets, now replaced with the European Norm EN12469 2000 (BS
EN12469
2000 in the UK).
Written in four parts with parts 1 and 3 being mandatory (specifications)
with 2 and 4 being recommendations.
Again, this is no longer a current standard and one should refer to the
new norm of (BS) EN12469 which was approved by CEN (European
Committee For Standardization - English and Comite Europeen De Normalisation
- French) on January 2000.
Note: CEN members (most of Europe including the UK) are bound to comply
with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for
giving this (EN12469) European Standard the status of a national standard without
alteration.
