en12469 or to give it its correct title in the UK BS
EN12469: 2000 Biotechnology - Performance criteria for microbiological
safety cabinets is the new CEN (European) norm standard for
microbiological safety cabinets (msc).
This new norm replaces all old European standards and in the UK parts 1 and 3 of BS5726 1992 (parts 2 and 4 were recommendations as such it would/may be prudent to still consider them). There are three classifications of msc, class I, class II and class III (note the roman numerals). The standard, in many ways moves away from regulation to one of --- carry out a risk assessment first then decide (taking en12469 into account) what one should do. Beware, some, with vested interests, or maybe wrongly given information is believed, may suggest the new norm is a lesser standard, this is incorrect as it is not, period! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
